Planning Approval for Commercial Property Change of Use

We were approached by a client seeking assistance with a planning application for the change of use of a commercial building in Chippenham.

The client had already submitted an application to the local planning authority but encountered difficulties when the planning officers requested additional information and properly prepared architectural drawings.

Project Background

The initial submission included drawings that had been prepared partly by another company and partly as sketch proposals produced by the client.

The planning authority responded requesting that:

The drawings needed to be produced to scale

A location plan and supporting documents were required

The application drawings needed to meet the standard planning submission format

Without these revisions, the application could not proceed.

Preparing the Planning Drawings

The client sent photographs of the existing drawings and sketches.

Using these images, we:

Imported the drawings into CAD software

Carefully traced over the original sketches

Used the dimensions shown on the drawings to accurately rescale the plans in millimetres

Produced professional planning drawings suitable for submission

Additional supporting information required by the planning authority was also prepared to ensure the application met the council’s requirements.

Planning Approval

Following submission of the revised drawings and documents, the application was successfully approved by the local planning authority.

This allowed the client to proceed with the purchase and proposed use of the commercial property.
